This service is for citizens and elders, including their friends and carers who are affected by Sickle Cell and/or Thalassaemia Disorder who may be experiencing loneliness and social isolation due to the fluctuation of their health condition.
We offer social and health workshops, cultural activities and befriending support for citizens who may be vulnerable due to fluctuation of their health condition.
Peer support group takes place monthly and community chat groups, providing opportunities for citizens to come together with lived experiences, to connect, share, and learn, while developing better ways to manage your health and wellbeing.
Our befriending approach includes home visits and regular phone calls, while social days and activities take place on quarterly basis based on the interest, ideas and involving citizens in planning.
This is a free city wide service in collaboration with Birmingham City Council and BVSC.
