Job Role: Children's Mentor
Hours: Casual Role
Contract: Sessional/Casual

This is a causal post as and when needed. You will be required to undertake a variety of tasks and duties across OSCAR Services and projects. These include mentoring, befriending support and organising social activities for young children, raising awareness, youth voice on matters related to their sickle cell and thalassaemia health condition.
You will be expected to help support individuals to develop their potential, safeguard their welfare, promote independence, and provide safe and effective care whilst under your supervision. The role will require working in partnership with carers, healthcare professionals and schools.
Main Responsibilities
To engage and support young children and patients from diverse backgrounds in challenging disadvantages they face inequalities and physical health.
To ensure risk assessments are completed for activities and workshop.
To undertake visits and raise awareness of our work.
To undertake the role as a befriender/mentor as and when identified.
To accurately record and maintain monitoring and evaluation information, which may include initial assessments and consent.
To promote social, personal, and emotional well-being for children and young people.
Where necessary, work with young patients, carers families and other professionals to make a positive difference.
Participate in team meetings and training where necessary.
To carry out duties with full regard to Health and Safety, Child Protection, Safeguarding and Equality Policies and Procedures.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications
Minimum qualification at Level 3/4 relevant to post (as set by external national occupational standards) or equivalent/work towards.
Appropriate degree level qualification in relevant field for the post-Desirable.
2. Experience
Minimum of 12 months experience in paid or voluntary capacity working with vulnerable individual and families facing difficulties while living with chronic condition.
Experience of planning and organising workshops, events and 1-2-1 support.
Experience of providing practical and/or emotional support.
3. Skills/knowledge
An ability to develop professional relationships, relate to and communicate in a professional manner with a variety of people.
Ability to adapt own communication to diverse needs.
Understanding barriers faced by vulnerable families and individuals living with Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia.
Supporting and empowering people to overcome disadvantages and help to achieve positive outcomes.
4. Circumstances/Health
Willingness to undertake required professional training in line with standards (this may necessitate a personal time commitment)
Ability to adapt and be available outside normal working hours to meet the needs of children and young people.

Are you an organised, detail-oriented person? We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced individual. The job holder will be expected to support the effective running of OSCAR Birmingham by providing high quality administration and financial assistance.
This role is offered on self employed or on employment basis.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service, finance, excellent analytical skills, and a genuine passion for supporting charitable causes.
In this role you work closely with Head of Service on day-to-day strategic operations, including budgeting, data, and financial reporting, ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements, administration tasks, including capturing and recording data, dealing with enquiries, ensuring professional and customer focused approach through your day-to-day interactions.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Key administrative duties including answering telephone, managing both electronic and hard copy emails, maintaining office diary and appointments.
To be responsible for accurate data input and analysis using accounting software.
· Processing transactions including purchase and sales ledger.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements in line with grants, contracts and charity commission.
Give administrative and P.A support to Head of Service.
Provide financial and administrative support for projects, events and bookings.
To answer telephone and receive all visitors to the centre and projects.
Maintain and order office supplies and provisions when required.
Gather statistical data, undertake analysis for monitoring requirements.
To assist with the daily running of operations within the centre
Provide support with general enquiries and assist colleagues.
To contribute to a positive and supportive working environment.
Work with the team to support the development and delivery of a high-quality service.

Qualifications
Minimum Level 4 Qualification in Finance, Business Administration Customer Care, or other are that can be demonstrated in application. (E)

Experience
Experience in providing administrative support to small charities, organisation, and senior managers
Strong background in finance.(E)
History of working and proven good and effective team working and enjoy collaborating.
